ITIL

ITIL Introduction

ITIL stands for Information Technology Infrastructure Library. It is a set of best practices for IT service management to provide value to the business.

ITIL was developed by the UK government in the 1980s as a collection of books based on the best practises followed by public and private sectors companies internationally for IT Service Management (ITSM).

The ITIL publications and the supporting certification and qualification schemes are updated periodically with the latest best practices. The latest edition is ITIL 2011 published on July 2011.

Qualification Scheme

The ITIL Qualification scheme is based on the core publications of ITIL Service management practices that are Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement. There are five qualification levels in ITIL qualification scheme:
